Both are external shading, but they do different jobs. The choice depends on the facade, the room and how much you want to control incoming light.
Roller shutters: closing, protection, blackout
A roller shutter (wood or aluminium) almost fully darkens when closed, reduces noise and – in a security version – also protects property. On classic facades, in bedrooms and during renovation this is often the more practical choice.
External blinds: fine-tuning light and heat
The slats of an external blind (F, C, S/Z profiles) can be tilted: you keep the view during the day while heat gain drops. On modern facades, in offices and living rooms this is the more flexible solution.
Which should you choose?
- Full blackout, noise reduction, security: roller shutter.
- Daylight control, facade rhythm, large glazed areas: external blinds.
- Mixed needs: the two systems can be combined in the same building.
